My Blueberry Nights
This week our group screened Director Wong Kar Wai’s first English-language film, My Blueberry Nights. Within the first 15 minutes I was nauseated by both the close-ups of the blueberry pie, that seemed more like the inside of an autopsy than a baked good, and by the quickly delivered metaphor of keys and doors being likened to hearts and romantic encounters…blah, but given my previous experience with Wong and that I am typically smitten with the acting and the appearance of the oh-so sexy leading man, Jude Law, as well as the voice of our leading lady, Norah Jones, I decided not to make any snap judgments.
