From @ryanrobbins

@JrMozart decided to hold his own Cake and a Movie Night last night. It was a ton of fun!

He made the delicious six layer coconut-mango cake, which we all devoured instantly. What a wonderful recipe! Scott did such a great job making it too. Since this was our first Greensboro, NC Cake and a Movie night, we decided to check out a shorter film.

The film of choice was Toyland, the oscar winning short of 2009. We all agreed that it was a very interesting film with a real WWII feel, but it was a little odd in some respects. Scott pointed out that a man says,”Hocus Pocus” and it gets translated to Abracadabra in English. LOL.

Overall, it was a great time had by all. You’ve come up with a really fun idea here, keep it up!

About

People keep asking, “what is Cake and a Movie” or, “What does #CaaM mean?”

I’ll do my best to clear all that up right here.

Cake and a Movie was started by me, @justex07, in the very beginning of 2009.  I was in the mood to bake a cake but didn’t want to eat all of it between myself and @kaleb1983 so I went on Twitter and invited any local twitter folk to join me in eating the cake and watching a movie.

At the first Cake and a Movie night, we had around six people come over, all friends of mine.  We ate the cake, watched the movie (Shortbus) and thought, wow, we should do this more often!  So I got to baking a cake at least once a week and having people over to watch a film, eat some cake and drink some wine or beer.

Pretty soon we were using the Twitter hash tag of #CaaM in all of our tweets about Cake and a Movie night, gaining more attention and spreading the idea across the internet.  Now people are doing Cake and a Movie nights all over the country, and from what I hear, even as far away as Australia.

This website is my effort to help other people organize their own Cake and a Movie nights with cake recipes, movie reviews and the wine or beer we paired our cakes and movies to.

This is just the beginning and I am open to any suggestions you might have as to how to grow the site and the community.  Eventually I want to have attendees from other #CaaM to submit their recipes, reviews and drinks through this portal as well as a calendar where people can find where the nearest #CaaM is to them.

I hope you enjoy the site!
